Rasam

Rasam is a kind of South Indian soup. It is prepared mainly with Lentils and juices of tamarind or tomato with pepper and other spices. In a formal meal, it is followed by Sambar course and is in turn followed by curd rice. Rasam contains many spices which are considered beneficial to health. Here's a free recipe for RASAM. Try it and enjoy.

Ingredients

I Cup Lentils

Tamarind (small piece)

1 Tomato

4 cloves Garlic

1/4 tsp Mustard seeds

1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds

3 tsp Black Pepper powder

2 Red Chillies

Salt to taste

3 tsp Oil-3

1 bunch Curry Leaves

Coriander Leaves


Method

Soak & Cook the lentils in water.

Soak the tamarind in water for 5 mins and extract the juice separately.

Mash the tomato.

Add the Tamarind water

Mash cooked lentils with a ladle

Add mashed lentils to the tomato & tamarind

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds & mustard seeds

Fry the red chillies and add the curry leaves

Add this to the mashed lentils

Add pepper and salt

Add crushed garlic pieces

Boil

Decorate with coriander leaves
